The next Biennial Conference of the Asian Association for Lexicography, ASIALEX 2009, will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, 3 - 5 December 2009. Information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.

The previous conference, ASIALEX 2007, was held in Chennai, India, where a New Board was elected by the members present. The current board members are: Prof. Jirapa Vitayapirak (President), from Thailand Prof. Zafar Iqbal (Vice-President), from Pakistan Dr. Amy Chi, from Hong Kong Prof. Gilles-Maurice de Schryver, from Belgium and South Africa Prof. Gregory James, from Hong Kong Prof. Varadarajan Jayadevan, from India Prof. Yukio Tono, from Japan Prof. Shigeru Yamada, from Japan

Previous Conferences

Prof. Gregory James hosted the inaugural meeting of Asialex in 1997, in Hong Kong, and since then five biennial conferences have been organised, each one in a different Asian country: ASIALEX 1997: Hong Kong (inaugural meeting) ASIALEX 1999: Guangzhou, China (1st conference) ASIALEX 2001: Seoul, South Korea (2nd conference) ASIALEX 2003: Tokyo, Japan (3rd conference) ASIALEX 2005: Singapore (4th conference) ASIALEX 2007: Chennai, India (5th conference)
